A guide to Sunday family lunch at The Swan

📅 Published 6 July 2026 👤 By Swagat Restaurant
Kids-eat-free, slow-cooked curries, a bottomless masala chai — everything you need to know about our Sunday tradition.

What to expect

Sunday lunch at Swagat is warm and unhurried. Expect familiar British comfort alongside regional Indian and Nepalese specials, all served with the relaxed pace weekends deserve.

Families usually settle in for a mix of curries, tandoor plates, rice, breads and something mild for younger diners. The room is lively, but never rushed.

For the kids

One child under 10 eats complimentary with every adult main. There's a dedicated kids' menu with mild curries, chicken tenders and a build-your-own naan station.

Our team is happy to guide spice levels, swap sides and bring dishes out in a family-friendly order so everyone can eat together.

What to order

Start with momos, Sekeko Paneer or onion bhaji for the table. For mains, a rich Butter Chicken, Chana Masala, Nepalese Goat Curry or Hyderabadi Biryani makes the centre of the meal.

Add plain rice, garlic naan and a cooling raita if you are sharing across the table. It keeps the lunch balanced and gives everyone something to reach for.

Booking tip

Sunday tables are popular with local families and hotel guests, especially around early afternoon. Booking ahead gives us time to prepare the right space for buggies, high chairs or larger groups.
